        COMPLIMENTARY COACHING SESSION

One great benefit of Life Coaching is that it is designed to take place over the phone.  Even though my coaching practice is in Northern California, I work with people from all over the US.  Telephone coaching makes it possible for you to choose your coach based on whether you're a good fit, not on geographic location.  Imagine the convenience of having your coaching session over the phone in the comfort of your home or office, and not having to fight traffic, waste time driving or spend money on gas!  There will be no long distance charge for you, no matter where you live in the US.  If the call is long distance for you, I will call you at your scheduled time.

          WHAT IS COACHING?

The INTERNATIONAL COACH FEDERATION defines coaching as follows:

"Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.  Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives.  Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives.  Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs.  They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful.  The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has."

          COACHING IS NOT THERAPY

Therapists typically deal with healing wounds from the past, and sometimes manage mental illness.  The therapist diagnoses, has answers and the relationship is more like doctor - patient.  The therapist helps move the client from dysfunctional to functional.  The Life Coach helps move the client from functional to optimal.  Coaches deal mostly with the present and concentrate on moving the client forward to the future.  The coach gives feedback, but does not give advice; the coach knows that the client has the answers and listens to the client without judgment of any kind.  The coach helps the client identify challenges and turn them into successes.  Coaching is a partnership where the coach and client are on equal playing fields.  The coach helps the client discover their dreams, set goals and create an effective action plan.  The coach provides the support, insight and accountability to help clients achieve their goals.  Coaching is not a substitute for therapy.

          CAN ANYONE BE COACHED?

"Yes, but the person needs to be willing to be coached and understand the nature of the coaching relationship.  While the coach provides feedback and an objective perspective, the client is responsible for taking the steps to produce the results he or she desires.  For just about any aspect of life, for which someone would want a coach, they can surely find someone who can coach them."  INTERNATIONAL COACH FEDERATION

You are ready for coaching only if you have the desire, will and commitment to take action to achieve the results you are looking for. It's essential that you are willing to be completely honest with yourself and your coach at all times to get what you want out of coaching.
